My sweet Kambri

This past Friday was the horrible tragedy of the Sandy Hooks Elementary School shootings. As I watched the horror unfold on the tv I kept thinking if my own children and my heart was breaking for these parents who had to deal with the loss if their child. As I watched this I started to cry. We soon left to take Kambri to piano lessons and in the car she asked why I was feeling so sad. I explained that there were parents who lost their children and I was feeling sad for them. Kambri replied by saying to me, "mom, you have such a soft heart. I'll pray that their parents can be happy again." She then began to pray that the children would be happy with Jesus and that the parents would be able to be happy again". My sweet Kambri...

The Strongest Man I've Ever Known

Cohen is OBSESSED with being strong. A few weeks ago Cohen was running around talking about his muscles and he flexes for me and says, "yeah, I'm probly the strongest man I've ever known".

A Child's Prayer

For the past few months we have been quite good at having morning family prayer and it is so great listening to my children pray. I have some sweet stories about their tender prayers.
We talk to the kids about how they should pray for individuals who are in need or are sick or sad and the other morning we talked about Uncle Brandon being sick and so this is how Cohens entire morning prayer went, Heavenly Father, we are thankful for Uncle Brandon, please help him make good friends, please help him sleep good and he won't have bad dreams, please bless the 'squito's won't bite him, please help him get home, please make his tummy feel better, name of Jesus Christ amen. I know my little man has a soft heart and thinks of people in need in his prayers. Months ago we had a good friend lose her baby and nearly every morning even now he remembers to pray that she will be happy.
He also prayed that we would have Jesus with us to make us strong and I love that he prayed for that.

I'd been feeling sick with a crappy virus for a few days so my aunt Darla took my kids so I could get some rest (she's the greatest) and Kambri came upstairs after being dropped off and said " mom are you better now?". I told her not yet and she replied, "I guess Jesus just didn't hear me, I asked him to make you feel better and he didn't listen.". Broke my heart to see how sad she was when she said this. We explained that sometimes it takes time to have prayers answered. My sweet soft hearted girl.
On a silly note... The other morning I reminded the kids that we need to let God know how thankful we are for all that he gives us so when it was Kambri's turn she thanked him for sending us Jesus so that we could have a reason to celebrate Christmas. And for the happiness of Christmas. And for the gifts we get on Christmas. Hmmm, I wonder what could be on her mind.

Is that Harry Potter or John Lennon?

We were watching the Olympics closing ceremony and my kids got really excited and start shouting "Harry Potter!!!" just as John Lennon's picture appeared on the tv.

Harry Potter Did It.

Cohen fell and got a scratch. He's telling people Harry Potter gave it to him.

I have a period.

I was watching tv with Cohen today and a Midol commercial came on and Cohen said, "what's that? A pack a gum?". I said, "no it's medicine", he asked what the medicine was for and I told him it was for when girls have periods. He replied, "I need some, I have a period too". The commercial must have been very enticing to two year old boys.

Rango

One night I say to my kids in the bath "time to wash hair". And simultaneously I hear the the disappointed, "awe". So to make things a bit better I tell them I bought a new shampoo that's going to make their hair smell like mango. Cohen gets way more excited than I would ever imagine a two year old boy would get about new mango shampoo. Then when it's his turn he jumps up and yells, " yay! I'm going to smell like Rango!". They love that movie.

His first shiner

He got his first black eye today....from a girl....a baby girl....he got punched in the face and received his first black eye from a 12 month old baby girl.

I was getting Cohen ready for church the other week and I grabbed his church shoes. Cohen looked at me and whined, "Mom, those shoes are fancy, and they're NOT cool!"

Taking Shots

We were at a friends house the other night and while us parents were down stairs talking our children ( my two and our friends two ) were up stairs quietly playing and our friends daughter came down with a red juice dribbled down her shirt. Concerned my friend and I went up stairs to check in the kids only to see them sitting around a kids table with a bottle of NyQuil taking shots out of the measuring cap. Needless to say Cohen soon after fell into a deep comfy sleep.

Cohen looked at me yesterday morning and said, "I am a white head... You are a black head" I'm pretty sure he's talking about hair color :)

The door bit my finger

Cohen had shut his finger in the door and came up to me with big years in his eyes he said, " Mom, the door bit my finger!"

Now that I'm 5

Today is Kambri's birthday. Five is a big one! She thinks now that she is five something magical will happen. She sits at the piano and says, "now that I'm five I can play the piano.". She tinkers a bit and realizes that wasn't the five year old magic that is to happen so she thinks out loud, "now that I'm five I won't ever want to suck my thumb again, and I won't have any more accidents..." (although most of the thumb sucking is under control nights are still quite hard for her and she occasionally has accidents at night). Let's hope that is the magic of being five.

Valentines

I loved making valentines with sweet Kambri this year! We bought rollo's and wrapped paper around it saying I like the way you "roll". She talked about her crush and had to pick out the perfect sticker for him, it said true love, the other boys got stickers w cupcake or candy pictured on them...just so they didn't get the wrong idea.

I love lip gloss

I got a new color of bright pink lip stick the other day and decided to try it out this morning so I put some on just before heading in to wake the kids. I go into their room, turn on the light and sit on Cohens bed. He looks up at me and smiles and says, " can I kiss you?" of course I said yes so he grabbed my face and gave me a big kiss on the lips and says, "I love lip gloss!"

Cohen can count to two!!!

We were on our way home from Utah just before Christmas and Kambri opened the door while driving 75 mph. It scared Brian and so he yelled at Kambri and everyone got very quiet. After five minutes of silence Cohen shouts "I farted!" thirty seconds after that he shouted, "I farted two times!". The first thing that came to my mind was Cohen can count to two!!
